Show That Westside Pride

The Central Carolina Firefighters Challenge is quickly approaching and now is the time to prepare to dominate the competition. This is a great opportunity to represent Westside Fire & Rescue. You will compete with firefighters from Randolph and surrounding counties in a fierce competition of firefighters skills. We need highly motivated, dedicated individuals to take part in this challenge as Team Westside. If you are up to the challenge sign the roster that is posted at the station. Let’s bring the Trophy back to Randolph County!

Here is a list of events that will be held.

Registration times for teams: 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

Events start time: 8:30 a.m.

Four Man Team:
Cost $ 140 per team Postmarked before 3/23/2010
$ 180 per team postmarked after 3/23/2010

Teams: Consist of four members maximum

Junior Firefighters: Juniors will be allowed to participate with waiver signed by their Fire Chief. (16 and 17 years of age only)(All I.D.s will be checked)

# of Entries: First 14 Teams

PRIZES: Based on Ten Team Entries
1st Place Team - $500.00
2nd Place Team- $250.00
3rd Place Team - $125.00
Tee Shirts for each team member.
Winning Team takes home the Champions Trophy for the year.

Two Man Team:
Cost: $ 90.00 per team postmarked before 3/23/2010
$ 130.00 per team postmarked after 3/23/2010

TOP GUN CHALLENGE:
$25.00 entry fee - winner will receive half of all entry fees and trophy
Pre-Register or on the day of the event
Junior Firefighters: WILL NOT be allowed to participate

BUCKET BRIGADE:
$ 20.00 entry fee per four man team
Winning team will receive half of all entry fees
Junior Firefighters: Juniors between the ages of 12 - 17 can participate.

Trophies will be awarded for the best times in the four and two man events combined.
Trophies will be awarded for the best time in the four and two man relay event.

RELEASE FORMS: Release forms must be signed by all participants the day of the event that releases Farmer Fire Dept., CCFC and Randolph Comm. College from ALL LIABILITY.

The Challenge will take place rain or shine. There will be no refunds!

FOUR MAN EVENTS:
1. VENTILATION - Cut a marked 2' x 2' hole on three sides and flap over the cut out - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

2. RESCUE RANDY DRAG - drag Randy through a coned course weaving between cones - 100 feet drag - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

3. HAMMER SLED - using a sledge hammer moving a section from one end of sled to the other and back - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

4. CONFINED SPACE SEARCH - locate and retrieve an object located in a simulated underground maze - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

5. HIGH RISE PACK - carry a high rise pack up three flights of stairs, hitting every step and using the hand rail - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

6. HOSE HOIST - hoist two rolls of 1 1/2" fire hose three stories hand over hand - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

7. HYDRANT CONNECTION - roll out two sections of 2 1/2" fire hose and make two connections simulating a fill site - Full PPE minus gloves.

8. HOSE ADVANCE - advance 150' of 1 1/2" hose line to a line and hit a target with a stream of water - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.


TEAM RELAY:
1. RESCUE RANDY DRAG - 50' straight pull - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

2. LADDER CLIMB - Climb to second story window and enter, stepping on every rung of the ladder - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

3. HIGH RISE PACK - climb two flights of stairs hitting every step and using the hand rail - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

4. HOSE HOIST - hoist two rolls of 1 1/2" hose four stories - Full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

TWO MAN EVENTS:
1. RESCUE RANDY DRAG - same as four man event

2. HAMMER SLED - same as four man event

3. HIGH RISE PACK - same as four man event

4. HOSE HOIST - same as four man event

5. HYDRANT CONNECTION - same as four man event

6. HOSE ADVANCE - same as four man event


TEAM RELAY:
1st Man - Rescue Randy Drag - 50' straight pull
Ladder Climb - climb to second story window and enter stepping on every rung.

2nd Man - High Rise Pack- climb two flights of stairs hitting every step and using the hand rail.
Hose Hoist - hoist two rolls of 1 1/2" hose four stories.

TOP GUN:
1. Rescue Randy Drag - 50' straight pull

2. Ladder Climb - two story climb into window

3. High Rise Pack - one flight of stairs
* This is a one man event.

All team relay events are in full PPE and SCBA breathing air.

All events will be timed events. Points will be awarded after each event. The team winning the event will receive the most points. Example - 10 teams - First place 10 points, second 9, third 8 and so on. The team with the most points at the end of the day will be the winners. There will be penalties in each event and will be revealed before each event, so do everything right and be on your toes.

BUCKET BRIGADE:
Four man team has to fill a 55 gallon drum by passing buckets back and forth. You will have a dipping man, two chain men and a pouring man. The contestants have to maintain these positions at all times.
